Vote Now For Your Best Film Of 2011

Voting has opened for the Gigwise film of the year.

Perhaps not a vintage year for cinema, movie goers were still treated to a host of quality movies, from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, to Woody Allen's continuing return to form with Midnight in Paris.

Senna broke new ground in opening up the world of Formula One to a worldwide audience, as Brad Pitt did with the excellent money ball.

In terms of blockbusters, the summer was dominated by X-Men: First Class proving that superhero films could also make for a quality movie in their own right, whilst Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 gave the mega-franchise a fitting send-off, proving to be the best of the eight-movie series.

Martin Scorsese showed how to make a 3D movie with Hugo, Joe Cornish went some way to showing British cinema can thrive in the gore stakes with Attack the Block, and we also saw that women could outgross men in the comedy of the year, Bridesmaids.
