Lindsay Lohan's appearance in Playboy is accounting for record sales of the magazine, publisher Hugh Hefner has revealed.
The troubled star bares all in the latest issue of the adult magazine, modelling her looks on Marilyn Monroe's shoot in 1953.
Hefner said on Twitter that the Lohan spread is "breaking sales records."
Gossip Cop has reported that the magazine is out of stock at many news stands, with customers buying multiple copies.
Hefner has taken full credit for the shoot, telling E News that he responded to calls from Lohan's representatives to tone down the shoot by telling them: "'We're doing a nude pictorial here. We're going to do it in a very classy way and we're going to do it in a way in which it will not be forgotten'."
Lohan has admitted to being inspired by Monroe's sexuality for the shoot.
