The Stone Roses could be a 'definite' consideration for Reading and Leeds festivals, according to organisers.
The band, who reformed earlier this year, are already booked to headline next summer's T In The Park and are also rumoured for V Festival.
Speaking about the possibility of the Roses playing Reading and Leeds festival 2012, chief executive of organisers Festival Republic Melvyn Benn told NME that it wouldn't be appropriate for the band to perform on next year's bill.
But he left the door open for a slot in the coming years, commenting: The Stone Roses are one of the seminal bands for people of a certain generation here in the UK. They're as important to people in the UK as Nirvana in a way and of course we'd consider having the band [play].
Benn continued: "It wasn't even something they considered or we considered [this year], but of course we'd consider having them back in the future."
Green Day, Foo Fighters and The Prodigy are set to headline next year's Reading and Leeds festival, an exclusive source has told Gigwise.
The bands will headline the annual event, which takes place from August 24-26 in Reading and Leeds.
As previously reported on Gigwise Melvin Benn, managing director at organiser Festival Republic, revealed that he's already made some "very exciting" bookings for 2012.
