Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has confirmed that there will be a fifth game in the series.

Kojima revealed to Official PlayStation Magazine UK that a new Metal Gear Solid game was in development.

The previous game in the series, Metal Gear Solidy 4: Guns of the Patriots, had been teased as being the last to feature protagonist Solid Snake, although it should be pointed out that no details of the new title have been revealed yet.

Kojima is scheduled to appear at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards, where he will reveal details concerning Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

That collection, which includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, is available in the US for XBox 360 and PS3, and is due for release in Europe on February 3, 2012.
