Analysts have predicted that Grand Theft Auto will be released in the summer of 2012.

The first trailer for the game was launched yesterday (Nov 2), which has led those in the industry to feel that there is now a long enough time for marketing to last well into the new year.

National Alliance Capital Markets analyst Mike Hickey told Industry Gamers: "We believe Rockstar Games is modelling a four-to-six-month marketing window for their upcoming GTA V release, suggesting a summer '12 launch period."

EEDAR's Jesse Divnich said the timing of the trailer's release was an attempt to detract from what is a busy time for major game releases, saying: "Enjoy your triple-A packed holiday, but remember who's your daddy. Rockstar North is one of the most talented developers in our industry. When they speak, everyone listens... Rockstar does what they want and when they want to."

There is currently no confirmed date for release, but it is expected to be made available on XBox 360, PS3 and PC.
