Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard have announced that they have split.

According to US Weekly, the pair – who tied the knot in December 2009 – have decided to part ways after two years of marriage.

The magazine claims that a representative for the actress, who has starred in films including (500 Days Of Summer) confirmed that the couple had now separated.

A source close to the pair reportedly said: ''It was mutual and amicable. There was no third party involved.''

Meanwhile, Death Can For Cutie have announced details of a UK tour, set to take place in November.

The band will play a total of seven dates across the UK, kicking off at London's HMV Hammersmith Apollo, Leeds' O2 Academy on November 17. The tour will conclude at Birmingham Ballroom on November 18.
