Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon have confirmed that they have split.
The couple, who married in 1984, released a statement on Friday (October 14) through their label Matador Records confirming that their marriage is over after 27 years.
A statement released by Mataor Records said: ''Musicians Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, married in 1984, are announcing that they have separated. Sonic Youth, with both Kim and Thurston involved, will proceed with its South American tour dates in November. Plans beyond that tour are uncertain. The couple has requested respect for their personal privacy and does not wish to issue further comment.''
The band are set to play five dates in South America next month as part of their current tour. It is now believed that the last show Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 14 could be Sonic Youth's last.
