Hackers have tried to gain access to XBox Live accounts in an attempt to buy FIFA 12-related content.

Eurogamer reports that users have reported account breaches after realising that FIFA content had been bought in their names.

One user in particular was badly affected, having had 5500 points purchased from his credit card, which was then used to buy FIFA 12 Ultimate Team card packs.

This problem has also been noted - and posted - on Goosterblog, Facepunch, and the official Xbox forums.

Every single breach has been used to purchase FIFA content, which has lead to suggestions that there is a problem with Electronic Arts' servers.

Microsoft are currently investigating the complaints, with accounts being frozen for up to 30 days while investigations are carried out.
