Catwoman will only be playable in Batman: Arkham City if players use an online pass to unlock her, it has been revealed.
Warner Bros. Interactive has said that a Batman VIP pass will gain players access to four story missions in which Catwoman is controlled.
She will then also be unlocked as a playable character in the main game's challenge missions.
Those who do not possess the Batman VIP pass will still come across Catwoman in the game's story, but will not be able to play as her.
The one-time pass will come with each new copy of the game, and will also be sold as downloadable content for 800 Microsoft points or £7.99 ($9.99) on PlayStation 3 and PC.
Robin will also be a playable character.
Batman: Arkham City is released on XBox 360 and PS3 on October 21, coming to PC in November.
