The controversial Westboro Baptist Church have announced plans to picket the funeral of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

Ironically, the extreme right-wing group used Apple's iPhone Twitter app to send out their message.

Margie Phelps, daughter of the church's founder, was amongst members of the Phelps family to use Apple products to send Tweets relating to the death of the company's former CEO.

She tweeted: "Westboro will picket his funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin," from her iPhone on Wednesday night (Oct 5).

The church, based in Topeka, Kansas, has gained notoriety for protesting at the funerals of celebrities and American soldiers.

They believe that God punishes America for its tolerance of sin, being particularly obsessed with the idea of homosexuality.

However, one member managed to miss the point twice over when Shirley Phelps-Roper tweeted: "God used Steve Jobs to create amazing STUFF for WBC to preach."

Jobs passed away aged 56 after a long battle against pancreatic cancer.
