FIFA 12 has sold 3.2 million copies within its first week of release, making it the best selling sports game of the year.
EA has estimated that sales of the game are up 23 per cent over last-year's record breaking launch.
In addition to its console releases, FIFA 12 has sold 879,000 units for iPhone and iPad, with the company revealing that October 1 was the busiest day for online gaming in EA Sports history.
Ten million EA Sports game sessions were played that day, with eight million of thos being FIFA 12.
EA will be hoping to repeat the success when FIFA Street is released in March.
