U2 were presented with a lifetime achievement gong at the Nordoff-Robbins Silver Clef Awards.
The Irish super-group were presented with the award at the 30th anniversary bash of the charity awards on Friday night (June 17).
Speaking at the ceremony, Bono said: āIām standing here as the lucky member of a great band.ā
Speaking about Live 8, he said: "I don't think it's the pop stars or the musicians that the politicians are afraid of, it's the audience. They are young people and they can change things."
Other winners on the night were The Who with the 30th anniversary award, Sir Bob Geldof with the Raymond Weil International award and Razorlight who won the Best New Music award.
