Towers of London were formed in 2003 when the brothers, Donny (Vocals) and Dirk (Guitar) Tourette decided to expand on their punk-rock group called, The Tourettes – and so the Towers of London were formed.
Along with the two brothers, the Towers of London consist of The Rev (Lead Guitar), Tommy Brunette (Bass) and Snell (Drums).
After a series of live performances throughout 2004 the band gained a reputation not only for their music, but for their rock n’ roll antics. Live, the Towers combined their influences - which include The La’s, Shane McGowan and The Sex Pistols - to present a frantic and at times riotous spectacle.
Their relentless touring schedule throughout 2004 was rewarded when they were signed to the New York based independent record label, TVT at the beginning of 2005. Two of their first three singles that were released in 2005, ‘On A Noose,’ and, ‘How Rude She Was,’ entered the UK charts in the top 30.
To support their singles, the Towers also played a number of UK festivals in 2005 where their off stage antics were as well documented as their on stage performance. The band are now banned from the Download Festival after fighting broke out backstage.
In June 2006 the band released their long awaited debut album, ‘Blood, Sweat and Towers.’ Produced by Bill Stacy it was recorded over three months and contained all the vivacity of their previous releases, including the single, ‘Air Guitar,’ which was also a top 30 hit.
The bands reputation increased further when Donny Tourette appeared on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother in January 2007. Arriving intoxicated, Donny abused the waiting press and crowd – as well as his housemates – before escaping over the garden wall just 48 hours into the show.
