Noel Gallagher has today defended Oasis’ decision not to play Live8.
The band were already booked to play a homecoming gig in Manchester by the time the Live8 plans were revealed - and chose not to cancel the concert in order to take part.
Whereas Gallagher has commented that: “If it was possible, it would be nice to take part.” He has also displayed his annoyance at the way that rock stars are automatically expected to get involved and fall at Geldof’s feet:
"It's the general thing that rock stars should be doing something to ****ing sort this out. And it's like, 'Well, all right, that's what U2's Bono and Coldplay's Chris Martin are for.'
"I don't like the way that somebody suddenly decides that all the bands in England are going to ****in' play and everybody jumps to attention” moans Noel on BreakingNews.ie.
