Essex based Engerica (eng'ger'i'car) are a chaotic sounding three-piece who are making a name for themselves with their thrilling live shows. Their songs are sick and twisted odes to the underworld, huge and scary, sexy with a dark, violent, sadistic humour. Audiences have been responding well to the bands onstage antagonistic personality while they've been on their travels around the UK supporting other noiseniks such as The 80's Matchbox B-Line Disaster and thisGIRL.
They've recently finished recording with Sam Williams (Supergrass, 22-20's) and one of the tracks from the session found its way onto Fierce Panda's 'The Squirrel EP' alongside the likes of Funeral For A Friend and Jarcrew. Their three-track single, 'Trick Or Treat?' will be released under exclusive license from Island Records by Leeds based, Wrath Records on the 8th September 03.
They say: "Those 'artists' that you hear and loathe on the radio and MTV? Engerica will go up against them, show them up for the big fat phoneys they are and annihilate them. Engerica will show everyone how vital and instant, yet completely disposable, punk music can be."
Ooh, make sure you catch them on their current tour where they promise to take music back from the record industry and into the hands of the kids. Listen to this band, play it loud and feel brave. It won't be easy but it may be important.
Tour dates:
Friday 1st August 2003 - the mill, Mansfield
Saturday 2nd August - rock city, Nottingham
Sunday 3rd August - the barfly, Liverpool
Monday 4th August - soundhouse, colchester
