The Strokes Battle Through Windy Conditions At Leeds Festival 2011

The Strokes were forced to overcome windy conditions as they co-headlined the final night of the Leeds Festival tonight (August 28).

The New York band, fronted by Julian Casablancas, played a hit-laden set for festival-goers at Bramham Park, although the strong winds affected the quality of sound throughout.

Earlier, oraganisers had been forced to take down the huge video screen to the left of the stage during Two Door Cinema Club's set due to the gusts.

Kicking off their performance with ‘Is This It’, the band then launched into ‘New York City Cops’, with Casablancas telling the crowd: “Hello, good morning. How you doing?”

The Strokes set mixed songs from their back-catalogue, as well as tracks from their recent album ‘Angles’.

Festival-goers seemed divided on the band’s performance, including 'Last Nite' and 'Someday', with many highlighting the sound quality.

One festival-goer told Gigwise: “The Strokes were very disappointing. The sound was awful.”

The Leeds festival concludes tonight with a headline performance from Pulp on the main stage.
