Live 8 Tickets Are Auctioned Off On eBay

Live 8 organises have slammed the online auction site eBay for allowing owners of Live 8 tickets to sell them online.

All tickets for the Hyde Park event were free, only available via a text message lottery that concluded on Sunday.

Sir Bob Geldof has condemned the sale of tickets and has begged all website bosses to ban sales which they have so far refused.

Organiser may even consider High Court action to stop what they have called “sick profiteering” according to XFM.

Sir Bob has said: “I am sick with this. It is a disgrace. It is completely against the interests of the poor. The people who are selling these tickets on websites are miserable wretches who are capitalising on people’s misery. I am appealing to their sense of decency to stop this disgusting greed.”

A spokeswoman for eBay has responded to Sir Bob’s statement saying: "The reselling of charity concert tickets is not illegal under UK law, so Live 8 tickets are allowed to be resold on ebay.co.uk. We have offered to make a donation to the Live 8 organisers at least equivalent to the fees we collect from the sale of Live 8 tickets.”

    Very charitable…
