Miley Cyrus has come under fire for covering Gorillaz' 'On Melancholy Hill' on her latest tour in Australia.
Ending her Perth show during her current Gypsy Heart tour on Saturday (July 02), Cyrus dedicated the Gorillaz’ song ‘On Melancholy Hill’ to two of her dancers who are about to get married.
But the cover has provoked strong reactions online from both her fans and those of Gorillaz.
"This happened because you let it happen, America," Stereogum commented, “Not a dry eye in the house. Or a dry ear. Because everyone’s ears were bleeding,” while reactions on YouTube varied from “I really didn't think things could get any worse” to “Admittedly, the songs she covers are good… but the way she covers them are nothing short of disgustingly painful to listen to.”
Cyrus’ take on ‘On Melancholy Hill’ isn’t the first time that the teen singer has performed a controversial cover, with her previous versions of Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, Poison’s ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ and ‘Landslide’ by Fleetwood Mac all causing complaints and coveting praise alike.

Damon Albarn of Gorillaz has yet express his views regarding the cover.
