The Pixies have revealed that U2 frontman Bono has asked the group to record a new album.
The band split in 1993 but began performing live again after reuniting in 2004.
However, they have not recorded a new album since their 1991 effort, 'Trompe Le Monde'.
In an interview with Spinner, guitarist Joey Santiago revealed that Bono was one of a number of fans who have asked them to work on new material.
He said: “Bono even asked… He's like, "Please make a record!' Goddamn, we can't leave that unturned. That would frustrate me. It would. I think we should do it. But it's up to everybody.”
Santiago played down the possibility of new material from the band.
