The Greek Orthodox Church is attempting to stop Slipknot playing in Athens because it says the band are promoting devil worship.
The BBC reports that the church are urging organisers of the concert to cancel the performance at the cities Lykavitos Theatre on Monday. A statement from the church said: "Public institutions must do their duty and protect Greek citizens from any public event that promotes Satanism."
The statement went on to say that: "The members of the band have a shocking appearance, wearing black uniforms and masks that look like skulls."
The band which formed in Des Moines, Ohio in 1995 are well known for their stage appearance which includes gimp and Halloween masks. They are currently on a world tour which takes in Europe, Japan and the US.
