Kanye West has claimed he is “scared” of the Grammy Awards during a surprise appearance at a jazz club in New York.
The rapper made the comments during an impromptu freestyle with Lupe Fiasco and Mos Def at Blue Note on Saturday (February 26).
It follows media mogul Steve Stoute's recent comments that the ceremony was failing to recognise the biggest acts in music.
In the freestyle, which can be heard below, West said: “Now I'm scared of the Grammys / 'cause everybody know that 'Dark Fantasy' / was the highest rated album in history, get me?”.
He then appeared to suggest that he would not attended the event in future, rapping: “so I just avoid it / not to be exploited / not be recorded”.
