Rufus Wainwright has had a baby with the daughter of Leonard Cohen, Lorca
The singer, who is in a gay relationship with Jorn Weisbrodt, announced the birth on his website.
Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen was born on February 2 in Los Angeles.
In his statement, Wainwright also denied several reports that Lorca Cohen was a surrogate for the baby.
“Of course, she is no such thing. She did not carry the child for someone else,” Wainwright said. “Lorca Cohen is the mother of the baby and Rufus Wainwright is the father.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Wainwright will play a series of shows at London’s Royal Opera House this summer.
