Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's recent appearance in American Idiot saw the Broadway musical scoop record takings.
The singer played to audiences at 93% capacity during his eight performances at the St James Theatre in New York.
Takings jumped $600,000 to just over $1million during the period, reports Variety.
The sales spike has been met with surprise by theatre insiders because Armstrong's appearance was only confirmed just days before he made his debut on September 28.
The singer composed and co-wrote the musical, which is based on the band’s 2004 album of the same name.
Following his appearance in the production, Armstrong is set to rejoin Green Day ahead of a South American tour.
