President Barack Obama has revealed that his “rap palate” has expanded since stepping into the Oval office.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Obama said he still listened to classic songs from his childhood, but now had songs by Lil’ Wayne and Nas on his iPod.
The US president credited his daughters with encouraging him to widen his musical interests, and said the MP3 played provided “joy and occasional solace” during “difficult days”.
"Jay-Z used to be sort of what predominated, but now I've got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff," he said.
“But I would not claim to be an expert. Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things.
Other artists on Obama’s iPod include Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones and “a lot of R&B”.
He added: "My iPod now has about 2,000 songs, and it is a source of great pleasure to me.”
Obama's taste in music has been a source of interest since he ran for US president two years ago.
