The Zutons frontman Dave McCabe has been found guilty of assaulting a man outside a Liverpool night club.
McCabe, 29, headbutted Peter Appleby during an alchol-fuelled altercation in February that was sparked after his girlfriend was insulted.
He had denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm and told the jury at Liverpool Crown Court that he was acting in self-defence, reports BBC News.
The court heard that one of Appleby's five friends mocked McCabe's girlfriend's fur-collared jacket.
She apparently reacted “angrily” and the singer approached the group, which is when he headbutted Appleby, the court was told.
“I did approach them but I didn't want a fight,” McCabe said. "I was looking after my girlfriend."
