The Zutons' Dave McCabe Headbutted Man Outside Night Club

The Zutons singer Dave McCabe broke a man's nose when he headbutted him outside a Liverpool night club, a court has heard.

The 29-year-old singer is accused of striking Peter Appleby during an alchol-fuelled altercation in February.

The jury at Liverpool Crown Court was told that incident was sparked after one of Appleby's five friends mocked McCabe's girlfriend's fur-collared jacket.

She apparently reacted “angrily” and the singer approached the group, which is when he headbutted Appleby, the court was told.

McCabe has admitted hitting the man but claims he was acting in self defence. He has denited a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The case has been adjourned until Tuesday (September 22), when McCabe is expected to give evidence, reports BBC News.
