Jay-Z has signed the daughter of Hollywood actor Will Smith to his record label, Roc Nation.
Willow Smith, 9, has already previewed her new single 'Whip My Hair' and is due to record an album.
In a statement, Jay-Z said the singer had “an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious”.
He added: “Willow is about to embark on an incredible journey and we look forward to joining her as she grows in all aspects of her career.”
Appearing on Ryan Seacrest's Kiss FM radio show in the US, Willow said her debut single had been inspired by lessons her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, had taught her.
“You can't be afraid to be yourself...and you can't let anybody tell you that's wrong,” she said.
Jay-Z was also influential in launching Rihanna's early career. Roc Nation is also home to The Ting Tings, Alexis Jordan and Daniel Merriweather.
