Tom Jones opened this year’s Latitude festival in Suffolk today (July 16) amid chaotic crowd scenes.
Thousands of festival-goers arrived to watch the veteran’s midnight set in the woods, but many were turned away when it became too crowded.
Gigwise reporter Robbie Wojciechowski said “excitement was in the air” ahead of the performance.
But he added that “crowd trouble was evident” due to the “vast amount of people all struggling to get to the tiny stage in the woods”.
Jones eventually took to the stage at 12.30am (BST) and was unaware of the crowd problems.
As billed, he performed a special showcase of songs from his new album ‘Praise & Blame’.
