Man Names Newborn Daughter After Lady Gaga

A man has shocked his family members by naming his newborn daughter after the singer Lady Gaga.

Ian Clark, of Blyth, Northumberland, chose the name Meggie Maisie Lady Gaga after seeking the advice of his four-year-old stepdaughter, Maddy.

The child suggested the name because she was a fan of the singer, but Clark took her suggestion seriously.

Local newspaper the Evening Chronicle reports that Clark registered the name, in apparent defiance to the newborn child's mother, Melanie.

She said: “I can’t believe he actually went ahead and did it. Ian thought it was a really good idea but I told him no way.

“The registrar asked three times if there was anything he wanted to change about the name but he didn’t back down.

“It’s still strange to look at the birth certificate now.”

Clark's family members are in shock over his choice of name and have already made plans to change it through deed poll when the child reaches 18.
