Rubber-lipped Charlatan Tim Burgess wowed the yanks when he teamed up with Starsailor for the glitzy US release of his solo album.
The supergroup kicked off a set at LA's impossibly trendy Viper Room club and a stellar crowd was in attendance -Queens Of The Stone Age axe-man Troy Van Leeuwan (rawk!), Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody, (top of the mornin'!) and Robbie Williams (tumbleweed sound effect).
And why Starsailor? Well, it was no bother - they were in LA anyway working on their third album, don'tcha know.
Burgy didn't disappoint the packed club - not only did he regail fans with his new tracks - such as 'Oh My Corazon' -he also sang several Charlatans hits including ‘North Country Boy’, as an homage to the Charls back in Blighty.
And as many of the fans in the club were in town for the Coachella festy, the NME reported him quipping, "I think of this as a pre-Coachella gig, with me at the top of the bill."
