Franz Open Up To Fans Online!

Spindly-legged Scots Franz Ferdinand may be recording their new album, but they are inviting us all in on the action by setting up a live video diary which will be accessible through their website.

The art school popsters will use a webcam to chart their progress whilst recording, chatting, tea-drinking and all that malarkey, giving fans a unique opportunity to hear future hits as they are being created.

Which is just as well, because, dammit, it's not the same without them, so this will stop us from missing them toooo much...

They are currently busy slaving away at their studio in Glasgow with the wondrous producer Rich Costey, who has already worked his magic on the likes of Secret Machines, Muse and Mars Volta.

Franz's manager Cerne Canning meanwhile told Music Week a few snippets about the forthcoming release:

"The band wrote all the songs for the first album before they started recording.

"This time they probably had around half the tracks already written, so it's been a new experience for them.

"The band have told me the album is slightly darker."

    Ooer.

And this webcam thing? "There is opportunity for fans to hear new songs as they are written, but more than anything, the access was a nice way to reflect the personality of the group."

    Aaah.

But will anyone be getting their tits out? Isn't that the law with webcams? No? So you mean I didn't have to... oh dear.
