Lady Gaga has claimed that Depeche Mode are “underrated” and reveled that she plans to cover one of their songs.
The US singer has been quoted as telling US radio station QMS Radio that she wants to re-record their 1984 hit ‘People Are People’.
"I could really give it the melody it never had," Lady Gaga said.
Depeche Mode have sold more than 100million albums and singles worldwide.
But Lady Gaga said she didn’t know they even existed until she heard a mash-up of ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ and her hit ‘Paparazzi’ on YouTube.
“I advise everyone to check out Depeche Mode, they are so underrated,” she added.
Lady Gaga is due to perform in Manchester tonight (June 3), before concluding her UK tour in Sheffield on Friday (June 4).

Just by that comment, there are going to be many Depeche Mode fans (including me) that are angry.....
- i agree depeche mode is way better than her.......idk if i like the fact that shes covering theyre song....but who knows
- Hey! DM is my favourite band since 1989 and I only know 2 Gaga's songs, but I would keep the good part! She is very, very popular and what she said is good for DM! (anyway I can't believe she never knew them!).
- If she likes DM and thinks they are underrated, why does she say that the original song misses the right melody. I don't think she shares a common thing with DM, and what is even more weird, is that she never heared of DM before... Come on Lady. This is all bla bla to attract DM fans to her... Good for her.. Many are already keen to cover or work with DM , like Rihana.
