Damon Albarn and other human members Gorillaz come face to face with their cartoon alter egos in a new advert.
The footage, created by O2, shows the cartoon band’s animated members 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russell leaving their dressing room ahead of a gig.
But as they try to walk to the stage, they are blocked by security.
The camera then cuts to show Albarn and other Gorillaz members, including The Clash’s Paul Simonon and Mick Jones, making their own way to the stage.
As their animated counterparts realise what’s happening, Murdoc can be heard saying: “It’s my band.”
The campaign has been launched to mark Gorillaz’s UK arena tour, which takes place in September.
Tickets go on sale on Friday (May 21) at 9am and will be available via Gigwise Gig Tickets.
