Courtney Love has dismissed reports that she was targeting Robert Pattinson to play Kurt Cobain in a forthcoming biopic.
Last week, tabloid reports - already played down by Love's manager - claimed the Twilight star was her “number one choice” to portray her late husband.
But responding to the report on Twitter, Love wrote: "I might despair and hey I like R-Patz, he's just not right for KC!"
Love, who is an executive producer on Heavier Than Heaven, also told the Canadian Press that it would be “stupid” to cast Pattinson in the role.
“That's just wrong, no offence (to Pattinson)," Love said.
"I watched the Twilight stuff very, very recently and I get it, it resonates with the teenaged girl in me, I understand epic love of that nature; I write about it all the time.
"But isn't that silly?"
British actor James McAvoy has also been touted for the role of the Nirvana frontman, while Scarlett Johansson is said to be favoured by Love to play her.
Cobain, who along with Nirvana popularised grunge music in the early nineties, committed suicide in 1994.
