Kieran Hebden has paid tribute to jazz drummer Steve Reid, who has died at the age of 66.
Reid, who enjoyed a musical partnership with Hebden - also known as Four Tet - passed away in his sleep last night after a battle with cancer.
In a statement, Hebden described Reid as “one of my great friends and the most wonderful musician I have ever encountered”.
He added: “The music and adventures we shared have been some of the most happy and meaningful experiences I’ve ever had.
“A true inspiration. He lived a great life and gave us incredible music. I’ll miss him forever.”
The pair released four albums together – ‘The Exchange Session Vol.1 & 2’, ‘Tongues’ and ‘NYC’ – between 2006 and 2008 on Domino Records.
In a separate statement, the record label said it was “very sad” to hear about Reid’s death.
