Pete Doherty has admitted that the Libertines reunion at the Reading and Leeds festivals has the potential to be a “****ing disaster”.
The band, who split acrimoniously in 2004, have announced plans to reform for the event in August.
In a video interview with NME.com, Doherty said he had been “chomping at the bit” for the opportunity to rejoin guitarist Carl Barat, bassist John Hassall and drummer Gary Powell again.
But he confessed that he was still nervous and said the group needed to be more honest with each other.
“Potentially it's a ****ing disaster; it's a tinderbox waiting to go up,” he said.
“So I think we just all agree to be honest with each other – speak up with anything that's happening that no one else agrees with – rather than wander off in silence and let everything get a bit messy and be more complicated. Just be honest.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, this year's Reading and Leeds festivals will be headlined by Guns N' Roses, Arcade Fire and Blink-182.
Other acts confirmed for the main stage include Queens of the Stone Age, Limp Bizkit and Paramore.
