Glastonbury Festival, Bobby Gillespie and The Mighty Boosh's Julian Barratt have sent in self-designed cards to the Save BBC 6 Music Facebook group wishing the station a happy eighth birthday.

The alternative music station became the first national BBC station to be launched in over three decades when it aired on March 11th 2002.

However, it now faces closure next year as part of the corporation's much maligned price-cutting measures - a decision which has prompted over 150,000 to join the Facebook group 'Save BBC 6Music'.

Thousands more - including Radiohead, Wild Beasts and Alison Mosshart – have written letters to the BBC protesting at the planned closure.

Celebrating its eighth year today a number of famous names have submitted cards to the Facebook group.

Together with Glastonbury, Boosh and Gillespie, Damien Hirst, Andy Votel, Rough Trade Records, Beth Orton and Peter Saville have all sent in their unique designs.

Head over to Save BBC 6Music now to see them.
