Good Vibrations, the Beach Boys Broadway musical, will close this Sunday (April 24) after a bitterly disappointing three month stint.
The show opened in February after receiving mainly negative critical reviews and has so far ran for a total of six weeks and 94 performances.
Breakingnews.ie reports that an Association Press reviewer called the musical “bland”, adding “pop classics alone can’t make musical theatre – especially when accompanied by a sketchy, almost non-existent plot, lame wit and meagre character development”.
Good Vibrations told the story of a group of friends who leave the east coast for California.
The musical used 30 Beach Boys classics including ‘Fun, Fun, Fun’, ‘Help Me Rhonda’, ‘Surf City’, ‘Be True to Your School’, ‘Surfin’ USA’ and ‘California Girls.’”
