Lil’ Wayne has been jailed for a year for gun possession at a court in New York.
The rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, will begin is sentence immediately.
Lil’ Wayne will serve his term in city jails and could be released in eight months with good behaviour, according to the Press Association.
The rapper pleaded guilty to attempted gun possession at a court hearing last October.
He was arrested in July 2007 when police found him trying to conceal a .40 calibre semi-automatic loaded handgun on his tour bus.
The rapper was due to begin his prison term in February, but sentencing was delayed to allow him to complete dental surgery.
It was delayed again last Monday after a courtroom fire broke out at the Lower Manhattan court the rapper was due to be sentenced at.
Fire damage then prevented the star from being sentenced on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, as a parting gift to fans, Lil' Wayne unveiled his new video, which features Eminem, earlier today (March 8).
