Mumford & Sons singer Marcus Mumford says that band are hopeful they can begin work on their second album this year.
The singer said the group, whose 2009 debut 'Sigh No More' was critically acclaimed, were busy writing new material.
The new songs include 'Lover Of The Night' and 'Whispers In The Dark', which the band aired at their recent XFM session in London.
“We’ve got a few more that are around the periphery”, Mumford told the radio station.
“We haven’t had much of a chance to get in a rehearsal room and actually play them through so we play them in soundchecks.
“We’re hoping to be in the studio this year. The songs are coming and it feels natural”
As Gigwise reported earlier, the group have announced details about a one-off show at the Eden Project in Cornwall this summer.
They have also been spoofed by a tribute act called Sonford & Mums.
