Madonna 'To Direct Biopic About King Edward VIII'

Madonna is set to direct a biopic about King Edward VIII, according to reports.

The singer is understood to be writing the script for W.E. alongside Truth or Dare director Alec Keshishan.

The movie will tell the story of King Edward VIII's love affair and Wallis Simpson, which saw the monarch abdicate the thrown in order to marry his divorcee mistress.

Trade publication Variety reports that Colin Vaines and David Parfitt will produce the film.

W.E. will mark Madonna's second directorial effort following the 2008 release of Filth and Wisdom.
