Staunch vegetarian Leona Lewis has expressed her relief after foie-gras was removed from the menu at The Brit Awards.
The French delicacy is essentially the bloated liver of a force-fed duck and is widely derided by animal welfare campaignrs.
Writing on Twitter today, Leona said: “I was outraged 2 hear that the Brit Awards were planning 2 serve foie-gras at the ceremony. They hav now removed it from the menu, well done!”
She later added: "In case u didn't no, Foie-gras is duck that is forced fed in a sickening cruel process and is banned in the uk."
Leona Lewis is nominated in the British Female Solo Artist category at The Brits alongside Bat For Lashes, Florence & The Machine, Lily Allen and Pixie Lott.
