Glastonbury 'Hoping' To Confirm Muse As 2010 Headliners

A spokesperson for Glastonbury has said they are “hoping” to confirm Muse as headliners at this year's festival.

It follows organiser Michael Eavis' revelation yesterday that talks were ongoing with Muse and Stevie Wonder to join previously announced headliners U2.

"We are hoping to confirm Muse for the Saturday, later today we hope,” a spokesperson told the BBC.

Speculation over the final two headliners at this year's festival intensified on Tuesday when organiser Emily Eavis revealed one would be a Glastonbury virgin.

Michael Eavis then told delegates at an event production show in London that Muse would headline on Saturday and Wonder close the event on Sunday.

But the festival's press office has stopped short of endorsing his claims.

When asked about Wonder's appearance, a spokesperson told BBC 6 Music: "It is very much a possibility but he's still only on Michael Eavis' wish list - so not 100% confirmed, it's pending."

The 40th anniversary edition of Glastonbury will take place on Worthy Farm in Somerset from June 23-27.

    • Glastonbury shouldn't hope to confirm Muse as I think Glastonbury is Muse and although it may be a pretty bald statement, I believe it's safe to comment, because what would be the point without them?

    • My god... Sholton Breena, you should be rechristened Sultan on account of your wise, wise words. I hadn't thought about it like this before, but yes, what would be the point of Glastonbury without Muse... the last 39 years would have been in vain... all for nothing unless Muse play... Maybe you should call the Eavis' and ask for a job on account of your wisdom, maybe you could even negotiate a 3 day Muse residency, because after all, what would be the point without them

    • Ok Mr Hot Shot Glastonbury die hard a.k.a old habits never die young, chances are you are still living in the 70's, and probably were at the first Glastonbury festival standing right in front closest to the stage, but I hate to break it to you mr "current affairs", Glastonbury are "HOPING" for Muse to confirm, because where most other bands complain about not being able to share stage, Muse just get on with it, and rock the 39 year old stage.

    • Sorry, Mr Old Habits Die Hard. I didn't mean to offend you and didn't realise that you were probably there 39 years ago, it's just that Glastonbury are "Hoping" for Muse to confirm, now what would be the point of that Wise guy? Why "Hope" when you could possibly do without???????
