Members of the social-networking website Facebook have launched a new bid to end The X Factor's dominance of the festive charts.
Winners from the reality programme have topped the Christmas countdown for the last four years and look set to repeat the feat this year.
But Facebook users have started a campaign for Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' to take the number one spot.
The group, which already has nearly 53,000 members, is calling on people to “mass-purchase” the song “as a protest to The X Factor bollocks”.
Twitter users have also been asked to make the campaign a trending topic by using the tag: '#ratm4xmas'.
It is the second year in a row that Facebook users have attempted to stop an X Factor winner's single from topping the chart.
Last year, music fans were urged to buy Jeff Buckley's cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' to prevent Alexandra Burke's version from getting to the number one.
But the campaign failed, with the song eventually charting in second place behind the X Factor winner.
This year's X Factor champion is due to release a cover of 'The Climb' by Miley Cyrus as their festive single.
