Jamie T has announced plans to form a covers band with some of his friends.
The singer said he wants to take a break from writing to focus on the as-yet-untitled side-project.
"I seem to spend a lot of time talking about starting a covers band at the moment, which I’m thinking of doing with a couple of friends,” he told BBC 6 Music.
"We’ve done a lot of music over the past year, we’ve written a lot and I think we are coming to the end of a phase of that I suppose.
"Maybe it’s time to stop writing for a bit as strange as that sounds sometimes you need to collect your thoughts a bit before writing so I think a covers band might be fun."
Jamie said he would play guitar in the band, while his friend Joe would sing. Other members have yet to be decided.
But the Londoner, whose second album 'Kings and Queens' charted at number 2 earlier this year, said the project would stick to playing live shows.
"I don’t think we’ll get into the studio. I think we’re just going to play some shows,” he said.
“I think it’s just more for the sake of having fun and going out and playing it.”
Jamie T is due to embark on a nationwide UK tour in January. Check out Gigwise Gig Tickets for details.
