Fall Out Boy are taking an indefinite break, the band have confirmed.

The four members explained thbey have decided to focus on other avenues while they part company for the time being, adding:“We don’t know the future of Fall Out Boy!”

In the interview with Kerrang! Magazine, Pete Wentz partly blames his celebrity status and high profile relationship with Ashlee Simpson as one of the main reasons for the hiatus.

He said: “My biggest personal reason for taking a break is that I feel my name has become a hindrance for the band.

“(Patrick) is a musical genius and it's unfortunate that he gets reviewed based on whatever's going on in my personal life or how my hair looks.

“I think the world needs a little less Pete Wentz. A lot of people think Fall Out Boy is me. But it's the four of us. I want to fucking vomit when I read intros that say, 'Pete Wentz: accidental internet poster boy.' It makes me feel ugly.

"People who read the tabloids probably think all I do is visit Starbucks and hang out in nightclubs."

Fall Out Boy's best of album 'Believers Never Die: Greatest Hits' was released this week.

  • Seriously? A greatest hits album...already. First off I don't consider them a "real" band and they really don't have many hits. But whatever, I'm sure their record company will make a profit

  • I agree with Priscilla, it's sickening that such MTV crap is considered "greatest hits". What's next a Panic! at the disco greatest hits cd?

  • A "real" band? Five studio album, millions of fans, several chart toppers and songs that are popular enough to get used everywhere in media, even the NBA on ABC and they're not a "real" band? Fine if you hate them, but please don't be so ignorant as to suggest they aren't a "real" band.

  • the band is great i fill bad for pete having to be the poster boy for the band. its gatta be hard for him to juggle being married,a new baby, and the band. but for the sake of all the fans i hope thay pull it together to make some great new music. patrick and pete get together and dont let the haters drag you down with them.there just jealous.
