John Lydon says he is “proud” to be the face of Country Life butter.
Despite receiving a lot of flak for appearing on the TV commercial, Lydon says the money from the commercial has funded the Public Image Ltd reformation.
Speaking to the Camden Journal ahead of PiL's Electric Ballroom shows in December, Lydon said: “The money I got from that advert is the advance on this. We live on a lucky end of a shoestring here until the first gig money comes in.
Responding to the criticism he's received, Lydon continued: “Why are they questioning me? What manual am I supposed to adopt? I’m promoting a British product which I’m very proud of.
“Anything I can do to help British industry is fine by me and in return you’ve got PiL.”
Tickets for the Public Image Limited shows are available through the Gigwise Gig Tickets section now.
