Morrissey's decision to quit a show in Liverpool on Saturday night after being hit by a drink has been met with mixed reactions from fans.
The 50-year-old Smiths legend abandoned his show at Liverpool's Echo Arena just two songs into his set when a crowd member launched a half full plastic cup at his head.
Morrissey fan 'Annette' told Gigwise: “Pity for his fans at the concert but he is right to walk off. He is a hero and shall always be treated like that!”
Disagreeing, 'Amanda' felt let down by Morrissey's decision, writing: “Like many others i have been a fan for over 25 years i travelled 200 miles to see concert, he was wrong not to come back on, he let down thousands of fans. He's a petulant egotist...not a hero in my book!”
Norman also hit out at the Mozzfather, writing: “I think Mozza is out of order. Why make thousands suffer because of one idiot. I doubt the fans are going to get their money back too.”
Another reader 'Oldeic' called for a ban on alcohol in the Echo Arena due to 'loutish' behaviour.
They wrote: “The Echo Arena has a history or problems such as this since it opened - so much so that local MP's are calling for an alcohol ban at the arena.
This incident will only reinforce their view. I don't particularly like 'stadium' gigs but the couple of times I have been has been marred by knob head loutish scallies who seem to get a little too excited who constantly lob abuse at the artist they have probably paid £35+ for a ticket. Utter pointless.”
