Pulp legend Jarvis Cocker will host a new weekend show on BBC6music.
The 46-year-old takes over Stephen Merchant's two hour Sunday afternoon slot at 3.30pm from January 2010.
Speaking to Steve Lamacq, Jarvis said: “I'm very much looking forward to it. I think Sunday afternoon's have got a special atmosphere, and I will be doing something that I think is appropriate to that - or maybe inappropriate, I don't know!"
Explaining the themes of his show, he added: "It is my intention to fill these hours with as much dodgy opinion, crackpot theories, hare-brained schemes & beautiful, beautiful music as is humanly possible. I can't wait to get going."
BBC6music controller Bob Shennan said: "Jarvis just loves music. He's an iconic figure and so he's perfect for Sundays on 6."
