Beatles producer Sir George Martin is recovering at home after undergoing “routine surgery” in hospital.
Sir George, who recorded with the band throughout their career, underwent the operation earlier this week.
His manager Adam Sharp told the BBC the producer had spent a night in hospital but did not disclose what he had been treated for.
The 83-year-old's long-time work with the Liverpool band meant he came to be regarded by some as the fifth Beatle.
Sir George was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006 by the then chancellor Gordon Brown.
